It is no secret by now that I absolutely love the work of Dollar Curtains + Blinds. All the window furnishings in my home are by DC+B and I can not fault them! I recently had roller blinds and sheer curtains installed in the girls rooms. I already have a few other blogs all about sheer curtains so this time I thought I’d concentrate on the roller blinds and the reasons I chose and love them!

Choosing roller blinds over  other types  of blinds was a no brainer for me. I have rollers throughout my home so I wanted it to flow but also I love the modern look of a roller blind.

In both the girls rooms, I decided to install a block out blind on the inside of the window frame and then sheers over the top. The reason I did this was because I wanted the sheers to be as close to the wall as they could be. So having the roller blind on the inside made that possible. Also, I knew that 9 times out of 10 I would have the sheer curtain closed, plus the rooms are on the side of the house so privacy wasn’t an issue.

I get asked a lot if there is light coming in from the sides of the roller blinds as it doesn’t sit flush to frame. Answer is yes there is a little bit of light but not enough to be a problem. When the roller is down and the sheers are closed it is still fairly dark. An alternative to this would be to install roller blinds on the window architrave or the wall above the window, this helps to minimise the light coming in.

CHOOSING A FABRIC...

I am absolutely in love with the colour and texture of the roller blinds I chose. CHANDLER B/O colour Adobe , they compliment my wall colour beautifully, however the texture adds that little point of difference and gives a divine linen look.

Dollar Curtains + Blinds  provides so many beautiful choices it can be very overwhelming. My tips would be to choose something neutral to your wall (unless of course you want a contrast) that way the blinds almost disappear to the eye which creates a look of maximum space.

You are also able to select the bracket, chain and base rail to suit your style. I opted for the sewn in lathe (no base rail) option, with white chain and bracket.

To keep it super easy I chose the exact same combo for Harlow’s room. In Vienna’s room I did wall to wall sheers and in Harlow’s I chose to only cover the window. The reason I made this choice is because in Harlow’s room there is still useable wall space on either side of the window for art or wall decor etc.
